Scenario of your tour
The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre was set up in 1964 to rehabilitate orphaned baby orang utan. The centre is manage under the administration of the Wildlife Department of Sabah and it is set on 4,300-hectare Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve and attracts tourists and researchers alike, giving a great opportunity to witness the orang utan live up close in their natural habitat. The boardwalk in the centre will lead you to a viewing gallery and feeding platform where Orang Utans are fed with fresh milk and bananas twice a day at 10.00am and 3.00pm. Feeding time also attracts the long-tailed macaques to the area for some food.

The Kinabatangan River is located in the eastern part of Sabah, Borneo Malaysia. It is the second longest river in Malaysia, with a length of 560 km from its headwaters in the mountains of southwest Sabah, to its outlet at the Sulu Sea, east of Sandakan. Kinabatangan is well known for its remarkable wildlife and fascinating habitats such as limestone caves at Gomantong hill, dryland dipterocarp forests, riverine forest, freshwater swamp forest, oxbow lakes and salty mangrove swamps near the coast.

Day 1
Pick up from Sandakan Airport (MH2042 @ 0710 hrs/ AK 6092 & 0705 hrs). Transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. While the Orang Utan rehabilita¬tion is still the primary goal at Sepilok, present aims includes public education on conservation, research and assistance to other endangered species such as captive breeding of the rare, endangered rhinoceros and the sun bear. After lunch, proceed to the Nature Lodge Kinabatangan which is located at the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary. The journey will take approximately 2 hours, passing by Kota Kinabatangan town and also oil palm plantation. Upon arrival at Kampung Bilit, take a 3 minutes boat ride across the river to Nature Lodge Kinabatangan. Check into the chalets within Agamid wing of Nature Lodge Kinabatangan after a verbal orientation of the Lodge and the surrounding area.  The afternoon boat cruise will commenced at 1600 hrs in search for wildlife and bird-life along the Kinabatangan river banks. Return to Lodge to freshen up and enjoy dinner in the midst of the Kampung Bilit secondary jungle! An option to go for a guided night walk to enjoy the more of the wilderness and to watch sleeping birds as well as the nocturnal creatures of the jungle. Settle down and overnight at the Lodge.

Day 2
Catch the beautiful sight of the misty Kinabatangan River and join the boat cruise at 0600 hrs to see the exciting wildlife as they just awake from a night sleep. Various species of wildlife may be seen such as Proboscis Monkeys, Leaf Monkeys, Macaques, Gibbons and even the Orang Utans. Return to the lodge and breakfast.  Later, trek to the Bilit Ox-Bow Lake behind the lodge to get an up close and personal glimpse of exquisite insects and birds life. Walk on the path of the newly discovered “Borneo Pygmy Elephants” (relatively, it’s the smallest elephant in the world) before heading back to the lodge for lunch. Free at leisure until another boat ride in the evening, cruising along the Kinabatangan River for more wildlife sight-seeing. Dinner will be served at the Lodge. Another guided night walk, this time using a different route to explore the night life of the wildlife. Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 3
Don’t be surprised to be woken up by the calls of gibbons and hornbills. Take a morning river cruise to see more birds and wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out, enroute stop at to explore the Gomantong Caves, the largest limestone hill and the most important source of edible bird nest in Sabah. Continue your journey back to Sandakan and transfer to either your hotel or airport (MH2709 @ 1415 hrs / AK5823/1420 hrs).  You may catch a later flight on MH3094@1810 hours after getting acquainted with the historical town of Sandakan (add surcharge & lunch included).

Important Notes :
SEPILOK ORANG UTAN -- Visitors are restricted to walkways at Sepilok. Some Orang Utan have become familiar with people but touching them is strongly discouraged, and while the apes are naturally shy and gentle, the more mischievous ones may try to grab your camera or hat, in which case you should call for a ranger as trying to wrestle the 200 pound apes may not be a good idea.

KINABATANGAN RIVER – The river cruise provide an  excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings, many interesting animals can be seen which are not found in the wild in many places, however sighting of wildlife is not 100% guaranteed.

A non-refundable deposit in local currency equivalent to 50% of the tour is required on bookings, together the guest personal details. Confirmation of booking (in form of invoice) will be send as receipt of deposit. The balance of payment to be paid not later than 3 weeks prior to the commencing date of the tour.
