Schedule time

Day 1
0730 hrs- Pick up from the hotel lobby and proceed to Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia’s 1st World Heritage site. A brief stopover at Nabalu Native Market, a collection of native stalls selling vegetables, fruits, local produce and handicrafts. Take the opportunity to capture the splendor of Mt. Kinabalu with no obstructions from the viewing platform (weather permitted). Arrived and check in at Mesilau Nature Resort nestled at the foot of the magnificent Mount Kinabalu at 2,000 metres above sea level covered by dense jungle in serene cool climate within the World Heritage Site. Free at Leisure or proceed for a guided walk at the nature trail with the park’s naturalist. Mesilau is home to exotic species of fauna and flora; it is also the best place to find the giant pitcher plant, the Nepenthes Rajah. Settled down early for the next day adventure.

Day 2
After breakfast, collect your lunch box, proceed to Mesilau registration office and meet your Mountain guide. The climb from the Mesilau Summit Trail is definitely more rugged, about 1.5km further than the trail from Timpohon Gate at Kinabalu National Park. But it offers more opportunities for viewing flora and fauna. The first ascent of the Mesilau Trail involved a climb up, then a drop into the Mesilau valley, and then another ascent to regain the lost height. You will get to see both the Kinabalu and Mesilau routes at higher ground. The trail is well laid with steps cut into the earth and thus, making walking easy. Stop for a packed lunch along the trail and end your day at Laban Rata, the mid-way rest house (3345m). Dinner and overnight accommodation at Mt Hut rest house is in dormitories.

Day 3
Your conquest begins in wee hours, ahead of the heavy morning mist, to catch the first rays of the sun at early dawn. Low’s Peak (4,095m) is your summit destination for spectacular view of the distant horizon and as far as the eyes can see (weather permitting). Descend back to park headquarter after breakfast, where successful climbers are awarded a certificate. You can get a certificate for RM10 each if you have successfully conquered Mt Kinabalu. Return by scheduled transfer (1600 hrs) to your hotel.
