Upon reaching the island, you will be given a short briefing prior to your trekking to the Volcano mud and soak yourself into the pool of therapeutic volcanic mud.
After a muddy experience, retrace your journey back to the beach to wash off the mud with a short stop over at the site where the Fame SURVIVOR Series was filmed by the American CBS production in March 2000 and the UK based BBC production the following year. Lunch will also be served at the resort restaurant. Your final first day tour will be your free own leisure where you can choose your favorite activities such as going for snorkeling or for a swim. Dinner and an overnight stay at the island resort complete your tour of the day.
The second day tour starts with a breakfast at the restaurant of Pulau Tiga resort before your short trip to the Snake island. The boat ride to the island takes about 25 minutes. Back to Pulau Tiga you will have your lunch at the resort restaurant before you check-out of the resort for a boat ride back to Kuala Penyu jetty and then back to Kota Kinabalu.
Schedule time.
Day 1
0730 hrs /1200 hrs – Pick up from the hotel / airport for Kuala Penyu. 1000 hrs / 1230 hrs – boat transfer from Kuala Penyu jetty to Pulau Tiga Resort and check in upon arrival. Pulau Tiga was formed through the eruption of several mud volcanoes in 1897 and consisted of three islands (Pulau Tiga/Kalampunian Besar/Kalampunian Damit). Take a nature trail walk to see the mud volcanoes spewing cool and mineral-rich mud which can be found near the summit of the island. The notion that this mineral rich mud is good for your skin makes mud-bathing a must-do activity on this island. Pulau Tiga is also home to some fascinating land based wildlife, proboscis and macaque monkeys, flying foxes, bats, monitor lizards and a plethora of birds – including megapodes, hornbills and sea eagles. The islands fine white sandy beach provides an idyllic place to relax, swim and enjoy the peace and serenity of this uncrowned tropical paradise. Spend the days by swimming or snorkeling in its surrounding clear waters or go kayaking. Divers can explore its underwater treasures (diving courses are available)
Day 2
Visit the Kalampunian Damit island (weather permitted/optional) also known as “Snake Island”. It is a breeding ground for amphibious sea snakes Laticauda Colubrina, which come to the shores to lay eggs. The snakes can usually be seen coiled in tangled masses under boulders or among tree roots. Even though the snakes are not aggressive the trip to Snake Island will add some spice to your journey, knowing that these snakes belong to the most poisonous in the world.1200 hrs -Lunch at Resort restaurant and free at own leisure until departure hours. 1400 hrs -Depart Pulau Tiga Resort by boat to Kuala Penyu jetty.1430 hrs -Arrival at Kuala Penyu Jetty and onwards journey back to hotel / airport.
